Each item is carefully examined, evaluated and tested so that the customer receives full and fair offers for their jewelry. How Much Will I Get For My Item(s)?

This question is difficult to answer, but we are confident that the amount we pay is more than our competitors. Retail Jewelers have the highest margins of any retail business. We have paid 10-50% of retail prices, but there are exceptions. There are no uniform industry guidelines, laws, or rules for jewelry appraisals. the appraisal price varies significantly for the same item. The value does depend on when the item was purchased, when it was appraised, and who did the appraisal.

Often the appraisal is a marketing tool and insurance companies don't mind inflated values as premiums are based on appraised values not market or replacement values. If your diamond came with a G.I.A. or A.G.S. Certificate we can provide you with a firm offer over the phone or Internet.

How do I get the best prices?

Bring your jewelry and diamonds in for evaluation and we will give you an offer and an accurate description of your item(s). Then obtain offers from other jewelry buyers. With our accurate evaluation, compare cash offers, not consignment offers or what they might offer. Most persons return to our showroom and sell to us.

Can I reject your final offer once you examine it?

Yes. There is no obligation to accept our final offer. We give a detailed description of your item which we base our offer on. Our tentative blind offers are only as good as the accuracy and amount of information you provide us.

How do you determine the value of my gold or platinum?

After testing the karatage and weighing the item, we apply the current New York gold prices.

Should I sell to a local jeweler?

We Have buyers worldwide. A local jewelry store is confined only to their local visitors. They resell the item to a company such as ours. It puts an unneeded party in the middle of the transaction, usually costing you.

Do accept trades?

Yes. In many cases we accept items in trade for jewelry that we are selling in our showroom. Our exchange program allows you a 400% of our offer towards most jewelry and diamonds in our showroom. For example our offer $1000 for your item is good for a $4000 purchase for our inventory.

Can I visit your location?

Yes! San Francisco Diamond exchange is located at 868 Brannan St. Suite 307 San Francisco CA. Our showroom is open from 10am to 5pm, Monday through Friday. Weekend and after hour appointments available. Does San Francisco Diamond Exchange take consignments?

If your Diamond or jewelry meets certain criteria value and desirability we would consider a consignment agreement. The goal of the consignment would be a higher selling price to you. If you are not in a hurry to be paid this is a viable way in which to receive top dollar for your Diamonds or jewelery.

What types of jewelry do we Purchase?

We purchase 1.00 carat and larger diamonds, all shapes and I1 and higher clarity, Colored stones and damaged Diamonds. All platinum and gold jewelery. What forms of payment do you make?

After you accept our offer you are paid in cash or our business check. Our bank is Wells Fargo and is located 3 blocks from our showroom. For cash payments over $10.000 it is required that we report it to the I.R.S. Our purchase of your jewelry or diamonds is not reported.

What about Pawnshop's?

Don t waste your time! Pawnshop's will offer 30% to 50% less. We specialize in purchasing jewelry and diamonds not cameras, electronics, musical instruments and tools. Pawnshops are usually located in less than desirable neighborhoods.
